I'm going to NYC with a new Mac Pro for my daughter. I'd like to keep it fresh in the box for her as it is a present. Anyone know if we have to demonstrate it working for security here like they have to in London?

No you don't. It's only countries with lots if terrorists - like the UK that have this requirement.

Just finished three US flights to three different destinations. No one asked to look at anything but passport and declaration form.

Did the same going thru west coast last year. On arrival got asked about the computer as I declared it on customs form. I told the customs agent that it was a new mac book pro purchased in HK for my wife, and that I would be happy to pay any duty owed. Cust agent told me no duty payable as Apple is a US company. He thanked me for declaring it. :ok:
