Yesterday in Tehran, an AN-140 also known as IRAN-140 crashed right after take off.
There were 39 casualties including the flight crew, and 9 survivors.
Eye witnesses claim that the plane had lost its both engines right after take off and its started banking and went nose down, hits the power lines and crashes in the middle of a public road. next to Mehrabad Airport.
The plane was due to fly to Tabas.
Officials say that they found the black box and they will inform the public once they know what the problem was, and by command of Iran's president, AN-140 has been banned from flying until further notice.
This is not the first time this type of aircraft crashes in Iran.
AN-140 plan was sold to Iran by Antonov, and it has been constructing in Iran.
According to pilots who have been inside the plane and have flown with it, an engine failure is completely normal in this type, but losing both engines and crashing right after take off has only happened once, and it was couple of years back in Isfahan, where 6 pilots were killed in training.
We hope that they find the reason behind this tragedy and hopefully they can fix the problems of this plane and we see not one of them crashing ever again.

It didnt experience both eng. fail, but only one engine.
Unfortunately iran-140 is a modified version of the original An-140 which has lots of poor performance issues. It cannot support itself with one engine failed during hot summer days, especially from airfields with elevation like tehran, Isfahan, Shiraz and etc, let alone loading cargo and pax!! :ugh::ugh:

According to 20:30 that aired the same night, they said it had lost its both engines, but now the newspapers say that it was overloaded and the engine wasn't built to work in a humid hot day! My question is, the idiot who assigned this plane to fly that route in that day didn't know the fact that its freaking hot out there? Let alone the fact that this plane was going to Tabas, which I'm sure was even hotter than Tehran!!

Dudes... What is all that uninformed drivel about? He lost the number two donk in hot and high conditions. Somebody did not do the proper take-off calculation math, so he could not maintain airspeed. Eventually he could not maintain direction. Vmca roll to the right and bang. All that blabber that the hero pilot requested a non standard turn to the right is nonsense. That's where the city and the high terrain is. No point of going there. He would have loved to go left, but ran out of rudder authority.

What are you talking about Mr. Mach? Who said what about a requested right turn???

Are you on the investigation team? If so have already you seen video evidence?

Thats true....
Unfortunately the aircraft itself is overloaded for 1 eng. , even without pax...because of poor modificqtions..... They have chqnged the engines..the wing spar..and the tail also...they all knew it, but..crew were obliged to fly that ****...
It was so clear that if someday one of the engines fail, there is no way to recover it, specially during summer..

Everyone on this project knew this was a failed plan to build this **** but due to some ego BS they keep going ahead with this crap!
I think President Ruhani did a good thing banning this type from flying and I hope it stays that way for good!!!!!!!! :ugh::ugh::ugh::ugh::ugh:

abby001 - Tehran is certainly hot and high but is not humid (at this time of year). Most of the Aircon in houses and even offices is simply the old 'desert cooler' evaporative type. NBG in humid places.
