One of our flying colleagues recently contracted malaria in DAR despite taking the pills prescribed by the airline medical department. Upon feeling ill and consulting said department was allegedly advised that he could not possibly have malaria if he had taken the pills. A subsequent hospital visit proved otherwise.
This particular strain is responsible for the majority of deaths.
