Hello. I've got a question about thrust limit on B777. Some airlines has an option, when the plane, which reached cruise altitude, remains the thrust limit in CLB, instead CRZ. I understand that it allows greater threshold available thrust than in CRZ mode, but it isn't so much. Maybe I don't understand some things. I can't understand in what cases the CLB mode better than CRZ mode on cruise altitude. Thank you!

At cruising altitude there is virtually no difference between cruise and climb power.

so what is the point of using СLB power then?

CLB at altitude may give slightly more thrust, which can be useful for recovering slightly more rapidly from speed deviations (losses) during turbulence or wind shifts.

I read up on this and CLB is a company option to avoid max thrust as a fuel saving measure, it has no "official" standing in any regulations. It is simply an instruction to the FMS to not use inefficient, costly high thrust. At higher altitudes it might not be aggressive enough to maintain level flight and some altitude may be lost.
