Saw an article in FOCUS (get to know the propaganda) featuring an article on an expensive piece of software that helps 'managers' to manage personnel. In essence, it was showing how an Army manager could discover the most efficient way of using his personnel. I can imagine the scenario:
Fighting breaks out in some far flung corner of the world, a possible stage for Tony's next Nobel Peace Prize attempt.
"Right", says Government, "far too many diamond mines could fall into the wrong hands if we do not send Tommy".
Army 'manager' asks, again: "What is he being sent as, you ignorant, axe-wielding politician? A peace-keeper, a peace-monitor, a member of HM Forces, a UN member, a member of the EU fantasy (will the Yanks still transport us)?......sorry, what's the trend this week? No doubt you will be topping up the Defence Vote for the costs of this latest global venture or is this another cutback we're going to have to swallow......."
Minister suggests that Army 'manager' should put the facts into his recently purchased, multi-million pound, bit of software and come up with the solution...........the answer being:
'Send Tommy (or Tammy) in whatever numbers that are left, ensure that you send them before they are adequately trained and, at all cost, send them with defective and inappropriate kit.
Ensure that blame will lie at the feet of the military if lives are lost because of the decades of cancerous pound-pinching that has become the norm'
MOD have shown their true colours with their poor treatment of WW2 POWs (ie Burma etc), war widows and Gulf War Syndrome casualties (falsifying records!!). Coupled with the crass examples of equipment procurement and wastage, constant striving for and expenditure on plaques of civilian recognition, the lack of leadership and such items of spin like 'Flt Safety is paramount' (unless we have to spend money on an upgrade, then flt safety is not paramount but the office produces some nice leaflets),
Afghan spin episode (telling Brig to wind his neck in), ..........I ask you again - who is worse, MOD, who purport to have our interests at heart, or the Politician, who we know cannot be trusted in the first place!
