Hearing that flight plans are in place for the first of three A340-600's parked in France to fly from Lourdes to Baghdad for a new Iraqi operator or Al Naser.

Iraqi Airways (IA, Baghdad) has become the latest A340-600 operator with its recent acquisition of 9H-SEA (cn 383) formerly with Hi Fly (5K, Lisbon) subsidiary, Hi Fly Malta (5M, Malta). Skyliner Aviation reports the aircraft as being ferried from Brussels National to Baghdad last week.

The Iraqi national carrier operates an eclectic mix of Airbus Industrie (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac), Boeing (BOE, Chicago O'Hare), and Bombardier (BBA, Montréal Trudeau) machinery including an A300, three A320-200s, two A321-200s, one A330-200, one B737-200Adv., two B737-700s, six B737-800s, two B747-400s, two B767-300(ER)s, one B777-200(LR), and six CRJ-900s.

According to Hi Fly chairman Paulo Mirpuri, Hi Fly Malta (5M, Malta) plans to replace the A340-600 with two A330-200s to be acquired shortly.

where is Iraqi Airways operating the 747?

Europe? Gulf?

I doubt they fly to the far east.

Hi just wondering if anyone knows chief pilot or contacts at al nasr in Baghdad?
Current on airbus
Their website numbers/ emails do not work
Cannot be any worse than when I did fl120 overheads not to overfly 4.3dme as no fighter protection !
If you flying is Lhr-CDg, I guess that's all u know!

And wishes he never embarked on the 4 engines for long haul.


Still think its a great looking aircraft.
