Just viewed a fast moving object with no usual navigation lights over East Leicestershire. Only one intermittent very bright white light at high level moving approx twice as fast as usual jet traffic. Also no sign on Flight radar 24. Any ideas?

Possibly the International Space Station?

Yes more than likely it was the ISS - especially if it was going in an E or SE direction?

Military aircraft (many don't have mode S transponders so won't show on FR24)

You can check for ISS passes at Heavens-Above (http://www.heavens-above.com)

No visible passes at your location for a few days either side of OP date.

Satellite flare - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satellite_flare)

Just search on You Tube for 'Satellite Flare' 'Iridium Flare' for examples.

Thank you for the replies but I have seen the iss overhead many times. It was certainly not the iss.

The ex-RAF Jet Provost got taken out for a play this afternoon. Could it be that seeing as it is classed as a 'fast jet'?

Nevermind - just seem what time this was posted last night.
