LHR runways for Sunday 22nd June

Thinking about a day at the Row on Sunday.

Does anyone know what runways are likely to be in use for landings and take offs?

This is only a guide, if the wind permits it, they land and takeoff on the 9L and R runways (when on 9L and R, they only takeoff from 9R)

not correct. Unless you are spotting at 4 in the morning.

27R will be the preferred landing runway from 0600 to 1500, then 27L

27 is always the preferred runway for daytime Ops unless the wind is from the east and giving a tail wind on 27 of about 5 knots or more.

I'm not iinto spotting but if you get down there from 0600 to 0700 then you will see landings on both 27R and 27L alternating L,R,L,R etc, can imagine it is quite impressive to watch if you are into that sort of thing

But I'll be equally rash and say more likely 27s all day, given the weather forecast.

Though strictly speaking it should be 09s up to 0600L, as per that Notam, as there isn't due to be much wind - but that would involve the hassle of a runway swap at 6, so ATC often seem to ignore the nighttime easterly preference if the winds are light.

I agree, it was a bit brave to try to forecast the wind. A bit foolish too!
I was there yesterday on the south side and the BBC weather forecast had managed to get the winds right but not the sodding clouds! What was odd was the windsock adjacent to 09R filling constantly from the north. Yet the wind across the road was on my right side, not in my face, indicating easterly.
Regardless of what the windsock said, at 15:00 they not only changed runway, they changed direction too, switching to 09 departures.
I see now the forecast for Sunday is a mixed bag, ranging right round the compass. Between 11:00 and 12:00 may be interesting, going from SE to NW just like that!

If the wind is light it will be preferential westerlies. However, the upper wind sometimes plays a part in the decision.

In case any of you are interested, I spent a lovely day at the end of 09L yesterday. Took about 500 pictures which I managed to trim down by half when I got home.
