Hi all,

I've done as much searching as I possibly can and whilst I know there is an old thread (2010) of the same description, I know this flying school has come along way since all of the negitive feedback it received 4 years ago.

I'm interested to hear from anyone currently attending Australian Wings Academy on the Gold Coast or anyone that has attended since the VET FEE HELP was introduced.

In March next year (2015) I'll be a fresh PPL starting their integrated CPL/MECIR course. I've spoken to the flying school and done as much research as I possibly can though I'd just love to hear some honest feedback from people that have experienced this flying school first hand.

Thank you in advance.

Chris

Hi Chris
I
t doesn't seem like anyone responded to you which is a shame. I'm in the same boat as you and looking at starting at AWA and hoping for some feedback.
How did you find training at AWA?
Did they adequately prepare you for employment after training?

Thank you for your assistance.
Cheers

I've read all those terrible reviews of AWA too. They're now about 8 or 9 years old though and current reviews on Facebook are much more positive. Has anyone had any recent experience of AWA?

Without Prejudice
Avoid Australian Wings Academy at all costs. The one star rating on Google is only due to there not being a zero star rating. They are not aligned with the airlines they claim to be. Bad experience by all of us in the past, especially international students. Note, I am a local to the Gold Coast.Today, I am a fully qualified Aeroplane Pilot. I have a Private Pilots Licence, CPL, Certificate IV in Aviation, Diploma of Aviation Instrument Flight Operations all from other more professional and more honest flight training organisations. I have a degree in accounting and marketing from Bond Uni, I also have passed all helicopter CPL exams and IREX. I was the former CEO and GM of two large law firms and with all that I have been screwed over. I have been waiting more than a decade for the Ombudsman to fully investigate AWA and the rip off of my Fee Help Account by Phil and Carolyn. I have a solid case and this matter is ongoing. I passed my CPL exams prior to enrolling at AWA. AWA charged me for this tuition. A NAV for 3.5 hours was scheduled, flew 30 minutes got charged for the 3.5 hours and the large list goes on. Fat cats have got rich by tapping my fee help account racking up a huge bill at my expense. Not to mention all the stress and long hours of study. Last thing you want is to know the flight training organisation AWA is screwing you over. It sucks. It sucks even more when years later you discover they have opened at Archerfield with stolen money from my account and bought fancy expensive planes. Just ask Gannon and Cam their Instructors from back then. They were pressured and encouraged to push remedial flights. If you don't know what this means, these are flights where they make you repeat due fee generation and pressure of management at your cost and in this case my cost. I will not rest until my entire Fee Help account is wiped given theft. If a person steals from a bank, they go to jail. If AWA robs your fee help account which at that time we had no control over and were blinded then they get away with it and you have to wait over a decade to get your money back. If you ever studied at AWA, doesn't matter how long ago, have your account audited. Long term, AWA is destined for A Current Affair what a great presentation this would make given the years ignored. My advice if you are planning to study at AWA - RUN.
