My CPL would be lapsing soon, hence, I would like to know the renewal procedure for the same. I do know that I need 10hrs as PIC in last 6months. Since I would also need to renew my ME IR , I suppose a GFT by day and night, as well as IR would be required on a ME aircraft. I have the PA 30 endorsement. Do I have to fly the same aircraft for ME IR renewal, or another aircraft?
Does all this flying need to be done in India itself?
And most importantly, do I have to sit for any Radiotelephony exam? I had converted my License from an Australian CPL to Indian and never sat for any radiotelephony exam back then. Kindly guide me as I have been unable to get any helpful or concrete answers to these queries. Any help will be much appreciated.
Oh and, I'd be glad if anyone could recommend any flying schools in India for the CPL renewal as well as provide me with an estimate of the cost that would be incurred for the same. Thank-you!

Read the DGCA rules a little bit more carefully

The requirements for renewal of license are

Within the last 6 months

1. 10 hours PIC

or

2. Skill test by day and night ( IR as well if you wish to renew IR )

I am not sure about the 10 hours PIC but the skill test has to be done on an aircraft already endorsed on the license

In your case since you only have the piper twin commanche you wont be able to do a skill test (or renew the multi IR ) since the DGCA no longer recognises it.

My suggestion would be to add a single engine rating to your license after passing the tech specific and flying the single for 6 hours
If you do this 6 months prior to expiry of license you can count the skill tests automatically towards the renewal of the license

If you already have a single engine on your DGCA license then doing the skill test by day and night are more than enough to renew it

As far as RT is concerned as long as you have a valid RTR P license it dosent matter whether or not you have an RTR A License ( after passing part 1 and part 2 )
That being said if you get an RTR A license you can apply for lifetime validity which you cant obtain by converting a foreign RT
Your RT license should be valid prior to any flying and for renewal of CPL

Another issue is the DGCA now wants an ELP endorsed on the CPL . You need to get it endorsed prior to any flying because you cant exercise the privileges of the CPL unless you have an ELP endorsed

Application for renewal of CPL to be done at your nearest DGCA regional office

This application form should help clear some of your doubts

Slightly off topic:

How does one go about endorsing ELP on Indian CPL. What is the average processing time. Will they give it in hand on same day if you submit it in person in Delhi?

Do Captains really charge you for taking these tests!?

I take it that ELP has perpetual validity in which case it should get endorsed on your renewed CPL, if you already have it.

Could I please know the procedure to get a ME IR on another type of aircraft?
And, can the RTR P be renewed?

You dont need to endorse another ME on the DGCA CPL so that you have ME IR on the renewed CPL
Airlines like IndiGo only look for ME IR to be endorsed on the license but the IR need not be valid

If you still wish to get a new ME IR then first pass the DGCA Tech specific for the same then contact a flight school which has the same aircraft .
You are looking at about 11 hours of flying on type to get a new one endorsed

Yes RTR P can be renewed if you have 30 hours of flying experience within the last 3 years
or
Pass Part 1 of the WPC exam

Hello I would like to know ALL the documents needed to submit at DGCA office for the ELP endorsement on Indian Licence.

I heard its a 1 week process. And I have to submit CPL, Frtol,
Covering letter, no flying certificate etc.
I could not find details on DGCA Website.

Can anyone please tell me the same as to how to renew my INDIAN licence.
I was informed by the flying school in India I need to do 4 hrs flying:

If your IR is expired (No flying since 4.6 years), I need to do following flights.
1) 1 hour of Fam Flight
2) 1 Hour of Skill test by Day
3) 1 Hour of Skill test by Night
4) 1 Hour of IR check on C152.

Also any info on how to get the ELP Test done or just go and submit the documents at DGCA Office ?

I was also informed that has my IR is lapsed for nearly 3.6 years so 1 Hour of IR check on C152. is not enough. IS IT TRUE??

Need help, Please reply .

to reduce the cost you can tell the flying club to take 45 min fam and 45 min of each check i.e day ,night and i guess ir renewal is 1 hour ... so u can do fulfill all requirements in 3:15 hr ( or less as i am not sure about IR )..

my problem is also same.. my IR has lapsed n itz been 3 yrz... so have no idea about tht ..
i also wanted to ask fellow pilots wthr renwing of Ir is worth or not...????

that's a good idea John, but the flying school set the requirements hence we cannot do much, most of them said its 4 hrs. Its easy for them to calculate the cost.

I wanted to know weather 1 hr of IR is enough, as it lapsed for more than 3.6 years I dont want any issues when I go to DGCA office for the Renewal. (DONT EXPECT ANY HELP FROM THEM)
But there is no reply from anyone. I don't think I am the first one on this forum to do IR and CPL Renewal

I know some said don't do IR renewal as it is valid for just 1 year. But as I will renew my licence hence I am doing it the same time.
