Hi all,

I'm captain on the 320 and I'm thinking of taking a sabbatical year to go and work in asia for one year. Does that seem doable? it seems the process for joining can be lengthy especially in china so I'm wondering if it's a realistic project.
Thanks for reading.

1 year is not really long enough. By the time you get trained and all the rest of it, only leaves around 6 months to get to grips with the op.
2yrs is a more realistic time.
It's a little fairer to the company that has given you the chance to do this as well.

I'm sure you work for a good company.I wouldn't share the same feelings if I worked for a company that didn't care much about the contract anyways.

As long as they paid for the time I was there, that's all I would care for.

I have read awful stuff about the way they have treated some of their pilots.

Thanks all for the replies; It seems the joining process from time of joining to being released online changes greatly from one airline to another taking much longer in China and being much quicker in Vietnam or the phillipines perhaps?
