Hearing reports that an aircraft is missing about 15km south east of Tamworth. Emergency services have called off the search due to weather.
Not a good couple of weeks for aviation around there...

What's the source for the reports as there hasn't been local emergency service reports as yet?

NSW RFS site has it mentioned as "unconfirmed"; contacts say they will be doing a SAR tomorrow; NSW Police have no updates and no aircraft has been reported missing or overdue.
Police report the weather has cleared in area and Westpac chopper getting ready to launch.. 1015hrs.

They send the Westpac chopper out on an SAR mission, on the basis of one unconfirmed visual sighting? - from a solitary person who said he thought he saw a plane go down?
Yet there's no plane reported missing or overdue in the area, and no EPIRB signal? What am I missing here??
If I called in something along those lines, I would be grilled to death by the police before any other enquiries were made - and no-one would move on any SAR operation, until confirming information or evidence became available.

There is a farm strip in that area...probably something completely innocent has happened here.

No doubt, and there are a few around the place.
Wasn't a place belonging to an ex RAAF F111 guy who we both know was it ? :ok:
