Hi Lads,

To work as an instructor in a us jar approved school does one need both FAA & JAA Licenses and Ratings, or is it down to the the type of instruction ie JAA ppl compared to JAA cpl.

Any comments on this topic would be gratfull, Cheers.

Hi Celtic,

My belief, (rendered completely without any documentary support!) is that the FAA will likely require FAA Pt.141 certification, and appropriate ratings for each and every participant in a flight school carrying the FAA stamp of confusion.

BTW, where in Ireland are you working? F/W or R/W?

Hi Celtic,

Depends on what stage you are teaching. If you are required to give any endorsements, i.e. PPL training you definitely need FAA ratings. You can teach on your JAA licence if you are training for JAA CPL or IR training you do not need FAA FI ratings. However, it will be difficult to work with out a proper work permit and given the conditions after September 11 I am sure it wont be easy to get a work permit.

Cheers,
Jatin
