Sukhoi's message over the incident with the T-50 aircraft 10 June 2014
"Moscow, June 10. Today after the regular test flight of the T-50 aircraft at the airfield of the M.M.Gromov Flight Research Institute in Zhukovsky near Moscow, while the plane was landing, a smoke above the right air intake was observed, then a local fire broke out. The fire was quickly extinguished. The plane is to be repaired. There were no injuries...."

Well they have 5 prototypes so not the end of the world. Typhoon had 7 DAs, and they lost DA6 of course (though I think they originally planned to have 8 in case one was lost, but my memory fades).

Perhaps the intake plasma stealth generator overheated.....

Some say that the PAKedItIn was being demoed for dem Indians and the fire was in flight ("...while the plane was landing..."?) but I cannot ask THE STIG nor Jeremy to confirm. :}
