I thought members of this forum might be interested to know that a retired pilot who lives in Sydney has just published a fascinating memoir of his experience as a Mosquito pilot in WW2.

An inspirational account of survival against the odds.

Thanks for your very detailed rebuttal and the evidence you have presented about the truth or otherwise of the claims made in the book.

That amazingly brief book critique by a legend in his own lunch time, should boost books sales of what appears to be an excellent, true tale of heroism and airmanship by one that obviously achieved far more than his critic could ever dream of achieving! :ok:

Notwithstanding Jettronic's fairly emphatic statement on the matter, this bit alone

Frank Dell was shot down over Germany in 1944 while flying with the RAF Light Night Striking Force. His account of the years leading up to the mission in which his Mosquito was hit, being thrown through the roof of his spinning and disintegrating aircraft, tumbling through the air and then descending by parachute for about 20 minutes is fascinating and would alone have made an excellent book but his memoir doesn't stop there - far from it!


not to mention the rest of the précis makes it sound like the bloke and his book should be treated with respect at the very least...
