After several aircraft were tampered with which could have resulted in injury or death, and headsets were stolen from a hangar at Boonah Airfield, a 24/7 security camera was installed and captured a man entering the locked hangar and getting touchy feely with privately owned aircraft, he takes particular interest in a ''Colby'', removing the engine cover, pulling the starter motor and taking many photos of it, this is one of the aircraft in question that had been found to been sabotaged, obviously this matter is now in the hands of police and this man may be able to help them with their enquiries, Do you know him?

Did you post a photo? I can't see one on your post. YBUD and YGLA had a well known light fingered pest a few years ago. He was advised to leave for health reasons. He has connections with Brisbane. Perhaps he has set up his operations in a new area more conducive to his health.

There were break ins at several aerodromes in Vic in the last few weeks. It appears a crew were doing a tour of aerodromes, quite a bit of gear was stolen. Go pro's, computers etc. I think this crew has been caught now. Time to re-think your security & what you leave lying around your office/aircraft even though they are locked up.

I believe you in that someone may have tampered however based on this photo and the others I've seen I can't help but think that it probably wasn't this particular guy... I doubt you'd break in and write down details in your notebook and take photos. Probably just interested in the engine installation for his aircraft or perhaps a hovercraft maybe.

That is a pretty clear shot of the mongrel. Someone should know who he is. Hope he is caught soon.

Looks like he is stealing to order?

Well he's not the bloke that departed the GLA - BUD area in a hurry. Perhaps that bloke by now is exercising extreme care picking up soap.

From that photo you can probably work out how tall he is.
I'd also guess that he's balding (wearing a hat), wears glasses, and is right-handed.

Good work 18-wheeler ;) with that mustache he could also be an out of work porn star :ok:

He is also wearing glasses and has a notebook in his back right pocket... Probably because he's left handed as 18 has pointed out which is clear because his camera strap is on his right hand and he's using his right index finger to activate the shutter.

So we have a short to medium height, possibly stocky build middle aged right handed man, possibly balding with porno mustache, poor vision, compact digital camera, peaked hat and dark / navy polo shirt.

What does this mean?

His description matches 98% of plane spotters !!!

It's John Holmes, as he is used to holding things that far away from his body:O

Ring CASA, and tell them you saw someone walking near an aircraft without a high vis vest on.

They'll dump thousands of $'s and man hours into a search, before you can say "aviation regulatory reform".

Doesn't anyone understand this is a CASA operative carrying out a "spot inspection"?? :ugh::ugh:

He's got the evidence of an outstanding aviation transgression right there on that camera - and that aircraft owner is done like a dinner, and he won't even see the rapid CASA action, of grounding him, based on "covert evidence", coming. :suspect: :ooh:

I heard that the GA school at Lethbridge was burgled the other night. Lost laptops Gopros etc.

Wonder if it's related?

Repo man???

Hi PeterC005, Google maps just advised me that there is a drive of 19 hrs and 55 minutes from Boonah to Lethbridge. I seriously doubt our unemployed porn star drove near on 20 hours to steal a laptop and a GoPro :ok:

i was thinking that most of the covert, hiding, sneaking around late at night antics of the aircraft repo men on TV was for dramatic licence... just like in Ice Pilots..

Hey, I have done a repo on a Baron back about 85/86.
We had a Lame do an overnight raid to fix up a few things and sign out a new 100 hourly. I then flew it a couple of hundred miles away.
The guy who thought he owned the Aircraft reported it stolen and I was met at destination by the cops.:}
A couple of days later and the "owner" saw me walking down the flight line and the coward RAN into his well known flying school at Archerfield!:E
As usual it ended in court and he lost.:O
Of course later CASA quizzed me about the "incident" on the ferry flight, it was fun at the time to politely tell them the facts.:ok:

There have been aircraft that have been tampered with in such a way that could cause death. Eg vertical stabs with bolts removed. Would you like such a person floating around in your hanger? Black humor is not appropriate in this case. Lots of very angry and aggressive aircraft owners floating around at this point. Whoever is doing this is one sick puppy and needs to be stopped. Do you know who this is or not?
