Gents,
I'd like to take my squadron on a 'dinner cruise' leaving from the central area and ending up on Lama island for dinner, and of course returning to central. My old man used to work for Cathay back in the day and every once in a while we and some of the other pilots would get one of the 'junk boats' (i think they called them junk cruises but it has been a long while) and go for a quick dinner cruise. I am not looking for luxury, just a boat to fit about 20 people and a few cases of beer for a bunch of F-18 pilots to get good and roudy. Any suggestions on who i could contact? Also, generally, how is the weather in the june time frame?

If you have read this far I appreciate it, i realize its a non-standard post. On a separate topic, i am an F-18 pilot with all my ratings (minus ATP) and am getting out of the US navy in about a year with about 2000 total time. I have read some of the threads on pilots looking for jobs with cathay and I will say that the cost of living thing and lack of good housing stipend is a deal killer. I am curious if Cathay would allow me to live in the US, possibly in LA or San Fran AND allow me to keep a job in the US navy reserves.
Again, if you have read this far I appreciate it. Take care and fly safe!

Normal entry is now via a spell as a Second Officer. Only after about 3-4 years and upgrade to Junior First Officer you are eligible for a basing in the U.S. ( or maybe even later, not sure). Problem is that basings are granted on a seniority base and hence you very well might have to wait much longer. Mind you, the position of a Second Officer is designed for junior pilots without much experience, so you would feel highly overqualified. Since a few years now there is no expat package any more for new joiners, so have a good look at the numbers, I would be very surprised if you would find it an attractive option.

Best of luck and have fun on the boat.
