Saw some activity at Bne Airport the other day around CP's MD 80's.
The fwd A/C had its APU running and doors open / reversers deployed , a couple of guys having a look around.
Maybe NL and CP are going into business together with an Air Museum on the Sunny Coast at the Palmer Coolum Resort.
CP has the Vintage Cars Museum, Prehistoric Animals and maybe the Jurasic Aircraft Museum

1 x Belfast F- NL - Cairns
2 x B737-200's Pax- NL - Perth
2 X B727-100/200F -NL Philippines
1 x DC8-F Bribane-NL - Brisbane
2X MD80's CP - Brisbane.

Logistics no problem NL can fly anything, anywhere, any time and airport close by ;)

Would that be the MD-80 with all the patriotic flags plastered all over it and the M series (Isle of Man) registration?

No that would be his Global Express.

The MD80's are the one's with "Minerology" or however you spell it, plastered on them, sitting down near 14/32 at Brisy.

Personally, I don't blame him for not registering the Global in Australia. Anything that stops money going to that organisation known as CASA.

I fear CP will do, to aviation history, what he has done to professional golf in the region !!

Maybe all aircraft should be registered overseas...QANTAS could look at EW registration, Virgin 4K, Tiger TJ etc etc.

I am sure regulatory oversight from Belarus, Azerbaijan and Cameroon respectively would be less troublesome than that received by the pesky Aussie Authority. :hmm:

so what does Minerology actually do?

It's "Mineralogy" and the registration prefix needs the third letter, i.e. VP-C-- to identify the Cayman Islands as the State of Registry

What's the latest with Clive's MD-82s? I see one is missing from the pasture beside runway 14 at BNE.

I am inclined to agree with you Thorn, then we could get, perhaps, really cheap pilots to fly them, from say, Azerbaijan or Uzbekistan, and then it is all good here in Oz, Tony and Fat Joe would like that.:ok:

maverick22, one of the MD80's has been moved to the GAM hangar. It's been in there for about a week and rumour has it they are getting back in the air.

BPA: One of them was doing engine runs yesterday morning. :ok:

I have heard (not sure whether credible) that it's going to Seletar to get a refurb and will return. :ok:
