Does anybody know any possible sources of photos showing K2890, the original Supermarine Type 224? I've spotted a few on the internet but nothing of any great quality. I suppose it's a long shot but if anyone has any ideas... answers on a postcard... :)

There are some shots in: 'Spitfire, Classic Aircraft No. 1 Their History and How to Model Them' by Roy Cross and Gerald Scarborough, published by PSL.

Failing the interweb and the obvious good libraries (University of Southampton, National Aerospace Library at Farnborough, Royal Aeronautical Society in London) which I assume you've already tried, I'd give the Hall of Aviation in Southampton a call.

Ah yes, the original Spit inasmuch as the Wright Flyer is the original JSF...

You could try "The Spitfire Story" by Alfred Price, ISBN 0 7106 0188 3

Mark22 - good to see you around. Saw Carolyn (source of compass and gunsight) the other day - she and I wondered how the restoration was going
