View Full Version : Why buy non-NEO A320's these days?

I see China Southern (one of my favourite airlines...) has ordered 80 A320, 30 of the old model and 50 NEO model.

Now the NEO is available, why would they order the old model? Just curious!

I tried to search for a previous answer but it appears the Search is down currently.

Thanks

Is it perhaps because the NEO is not yet produced in China, while the A320 is the mainstay of their production over there.
I am just guessing but it seems sensible to me that they would "buy local".
Hang on: I just read a news item on this and they are ordering a mix, including 50 NEO models for delivery between 2016 & 2020. The Chinese factory is due to begin NEO production in 2017.

Plus Airbus are offering free travel coffee mugs for every older A320 purchase.
