From the article...

An elderly Virginia woman was knocked into a lake and battled a beaver that had bitten her wooden leg for 20 minutes in 2012. She managed to escape.

Beaver dam sort of near here collapsed with the unfreezing of a river. Subsequent flood cut off power to 5,000 and blocked the only access road to a community of 200 who are still cutoff after 3 days.

The mother of all beavers lives on a mountain pond just above us. First encountered it back in 2008... our Lab is 75-lbs and this thing towered over it... probably 100-lbs give or take.

And I do have a pic... if I can just figure out how to load jpgs.

Never mess with their dams either.... they will attack.

Jeff Gates... said beavers shouldn’t be considered dangerous...
“They’re pretty tough. If you ever tangled with one it would win probably. They’ve got a good bite and big claws.”

Don't we all know it! And yes, all beavers should be regarded with a healthy amount of suspicion!

Now we have deer loose in the Capital.

None of this is exceptional here. In a recent trip along the Trans-Canada Highway, I stopped for black bear, deer, beaver, and lynx crossing the road (or just ambling down it).
