If that's going to be the case, then surely there is no longer any good reason to keep RPs?

Imagine how hard it will be to build the roster without the ever-present O days? And how pleasant it would be for us?

Yes, I have read the RPs and realise there are other items there, but I am trying to look at the big (ie, rostering) picture. With no Os, every day on the roster will have to be either a work day, a reserve, or a GDO.

Yes, it is going to be hell on the commuting guys. I guess that's why the AOA hasn't used its prerogative to give 3 months notice to cancel the RPs.

More than 30 rostered Reserve days per year, then they cost? I would think most of us get more than 3 O days per month.

Hate to burst your bubble but if you are on reserve and get called out it isn't counted towards the 30 reserve days per annum . Who let that one in should be the question

3.86 hours per Duty during which the crew member was not called out.

You can look at the cumulative total of reserve on your live roster, it is a bit behind but it includes days you are called out on. The catch is if you get a split duty over 2 days you will get less credit than published ( if over 30 days )

If this is not the case then your COS is being contravened and you need to rectify it.

I've had way over 30 reserve days since my last birthday (close to 40), but my reserve count shows only 24 till end of May.

True I called in sick during reserve once (5 days gone), but that doesn't explain the difference. Or is the Crewdirect counting done from January?

Edit: my mistake. Crewdirect shows until end of March only. 24+10+5 seems correct.

We have been diddled when on over 30 day reserve for a 6 day block.....get called out for a 4 day long haul that requires recovery days on return to base....get scheduled 2 O days with no credit.......it is simply breaking our COS.

Hopefully the current system will be consigned to the trash can in the near future.

An "A" day is a day you are Available to be called but with a 10-hr lead time vice a reserve which has 2hr15min callout time.

Sorry correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't the whole concept of A days brought in by CX a number of years ago on a trial basis that they said could be removed if it wasn't working out for them in the future.

There has always been the danger the A days would be removed when they ceased to be useful for CX.

It is a difficult thing for the based commuters to swallow I agree, they have setup their lives under the current climate and it's not fair to move the goal posts yet again.

When callled on an 'A' day, CC always want you there ASAP. Responding to their phone call (which you must), politely giving them a timecheck and saying you can be at the airport 10 hours later normally made the problem go away. Their rules and they didn't like it so, not surprisingly, it's gone. Pity really - I used to enjoy those chats.:{

It will affect almost everyone, not only the commuters. Take London where you have to report at the aeroplane (a whole other topic)-you need 20 minutes for the staff car park, 20 minutes to get through security and to the gate. Not too big a radius to drive the remaining hour and a half through the rush hour....
