Hello everyone! I'm 24 years old and I'm going to become a pilot. I would like to read the stories from real pilots who began their career not early. How many pilots who started their career after 25?:)

You're 24 .... you are barely out of the womb! Wih retirement ages heading north of 65, you will have plenty of time before retirement.

Me .... PPL aged 29 or 30. ATPL/IR and joined British Airways at 32 as FO B737-200, Captain B737-200 after 6 years, then FO B747-400 after 8 years, Captain A320 just after 9/11 before Captain B747-400 in 2006.

Many have joined much older than I did.

Sorry - I started at 18, almost fifty years ago.

Depending on how long it takes you to work up the seniority ladder, the 747 fleets might have all retired before you get that high.

Roger7 -- At the grand old age of 24 I'm afraid you're way past it old boy. Sorry about the bad news. Give up now.

OK, only joking of course ... 24?

I thought I was getting on until I met a pilot last week at London City Airport (yes, I'm one of those who stand by the runway) and he was 49 when he entered and was a captain 4 years later. He's 56 now.

I suppose aviation is one of those jobs, where, as long as you stay fit, life experience is probably a good thing to bring into the job.

Yes, you're right! 747-8 isn't popular and it's like the end of an era 747. It's very sad:(
