BBC - Travel - How well do you know the world? Play Geoguessr to find out! (http://www.bbc.com/travel/feature/20131206-how-well-do-you-know-the-world-play-geoguessr-to-find-out)

I don't - even though I got points (God knows the authors are generous, I had even the continent wrong once :\) and there were clues to give you an idea :).

Apparently this BBC site isn't funded from the licence fee, so we can't access it in the UK.

Seems the site is not available from the UK.

Edited to say: "snap"

You don't have to do it through the Beeb. Try here.

GeoGuessr - Let's explore the world! (http://geoguessr.com/)

I have worked in the same part of the World as Q1 but I have never heard of it.

Got each country correct or just over the border. Bleedin' hard to be accurate with the tiny map they give you.

11,300 something scored.

That gives me a black screen with a few white lines ...

... and a link which if I click on it gives a certificate error.

I look at it sometimes but I don't think it's as good as our own WoE because mostly it's just landscape with little to go on other than vegetation, topography, and intuition. I prefer our own rather more personalised and intellectual game.

the tiny map
- that was part of my problem (sorry, challenge!), too - except for the wrong continent, of course :).

Don't forget you can use your mouse wheel to zoom in on the "tiny map" right down to street level. No excuses anymore for wayward guesses ....

two in Brazil, one in mid Russia one in Northern Oz & the third up north, here in sunny Scotland.

Never been south of the equator or to the wilds of Siberia.

Maybe I should think about it - I seem to have a reasonable idea of where I am........

It's a great alternative to "Where in the World." One of the tricks is that given it is based on Google Earth (or more likely, Google Maps), you can just "drive" down the road until you find something that will give you a clue.

It's a pretty fun way to spend a few hours. :ok::ok:
