I recently spoke with a crew in Europe who said they didn't have to pay fuel tax in Spain even though they were private. Can anyone else verify this? Thanks

Last time I refuelled in Spain (three days ago) the fuel vendor asked for a copy of our AOC before ticking "Tax free" on his form.

Or they gave them a form of exemption... and they signed :)

I can tell you for sure that privately the fuel is almost half the price of the commercial one, having refueled both ways in spain at the same airport in the same days...

EDIT: of course I meant to say the price commercially is half the private one... not the other way around :}

It has been my experience that some Madrid handlers don't seem to care if you have an AOC or not.

have anybody got experience on VAT Refund from the Spanish !
We were charge a hefty VAT of almost 30k while we hold an AOC and the refueler didn't tick the right box !

If anybody have experience with this would be glad to hear from you !
