Just back from holiday today, got to say the cabin temperature on the flight was unbelievably hot, several passengers making comments expressing their concern.

Any idea why this was so? Never been on a flight where the cabin temp was this warm before.

Flight number was TOM1445 into Newcastle, a shiney 737 800

Cheers

Did anyone ask CC to turn it down instead of making "comments" ?

Sorry, when I meant comments I should have explained more clearly that the comments were made to cabin crew but the temperature remained uncomfortable.

Perhaps a tech issue with the aeroplane?

It's hard to make the cabin temperature comfortable for everyone, that's the really short answer.

On receipt of a handful of comments passed on by the Cabin Crew, the Pilot will likely bump the temperature setting down a bit, but probably not by very much. The pilot will be wary of an imminent load of complaints that it's got cold all of a sudden. On the 800 (particularly with the Sky interior) the entire range of the temperature settings seems to be at the warmer end of the scale anyway.

If you're really keen on knowing the ins and outs of what goes on around setting cabin temps in a 737 there was an old (but still valid) discussion here on PPRuNe Tech Log, some of the posters are knowlegeable on the subject.

By the looks of it warmer cabin temps tend to be a feature of the 800, it certainly doesn't seem to have been a tech issue or a TOM specific problem.
