From a colleague:-

Charlie Duke is an SETP fellow and Apollo 16 astronaut -- his book is free on Amazon Kindle today.

I'm sure we all know who Charlie Duke is, but anybody with a Kindle, it's worth grabbing the opportunity whilst it's there.

Thanks from a mate who has a kindle! Wasn't it Charlie Duke's measles that bumped Ken Mattingly off Apollo 13?

Wasn't it Charlie Duke's measles that bumped Ken Mattingly off Apollo 13?

That's certainly the version of events given by Jim Lovell/Jeffery Kluger in "Lost Moon".

( For those that don't know the story Duke's kids got measles, Duke, one of the backup crew, then got it, Mattingly like the rest of the prime crew was exposed to the virus but unlike Lovell and Haise didn't appear to have any immunity so was dropped from the crew - as it turned out he didn't actually develop the illness)

Thanks for the heads up.
