Hi Guys,

You have a JAA CPL and discover that you need to convert to an ATPL. What do you need to do to convert ?

JAA IR and ATPL Theory Credits - to get a frozen ATPL(250+hrs). To unfreeze 1500hrs with certain conditions such as 500hrs multi crew for which you will need MCC etc.

If you have a CPL already you should have a rough idea about this!

At present the JAA CPL to ATPL Ground Theory Conversion Course has not been developed yet

Your only option, If you really need the ATPL, is to take 14 ground exams at JAA level

Have a look at the CAA SRG website, and look for General Information Document 25, or GID 25, in fight deck licencing section. This will explain the different cases and provide you with guidance to what to do.

Thanks guys. Was thinking of doing CPL but everyone says to do ATPL because etc, etc.... .Don't want to burning bridges !!!

On another subject, does anyone know where you can do FAA training in the UK. Had a quick look in the mags but couldn't get any info. I know you can do the exams here remotely.
