Another Firing

CX has just fired another long time employee (27+ years) which is turning into another poorly handled witch-hunt. Shame on you CX! Have you not learned anything over the years and when will you treat your employees with the respect and compassion they deserve? :mad:

No such thing as verbal or written warnings in CX, they just hit the nuke button.:=

I would say some local managers need to be rattled themselves! See how they like it.

A popular and very senior station supervisor was fired on the spot. A 63 year old loyal employee for over 27 years. Co-workers are shocked and distraught.

Yes, age 65 retirement benefits and severance pay just to name two. I hope he gets a good lawyer and throws the book at CX for their typically poor handling of their "cherished" employees! :\

Time to drag this company and the manager's who make these outrageous decisions through the mud again. Only then will they ever change their ways and treat people fairly.

He is quite simply a super star as a shift supervisor. Having personally watched him solve Cathay's problems for years, I am dumb founded that he could be let go with no warning.

So far in YVR they have "let go" Ian, Mike, Janet, Stella and now Rick.

Anyone see a trend here?

We all know it's just a marketing slogan. Same as Cathay, 'Safety is our number one priority'.

Yeah right. Financial returns are our number one priority and our passengers safety, along with our staffs well being, comes in around spots 7 & 8.

Should the aggrieved create a sh:mad:t-storm and if even a speckle was to flick onto the face of SK, I am sure a large number of us would contribute to the costs.

As a complete outsider I would have thought that the Canadian labour laws would require a warning process.


Instant dismissal is usually only applied for certain types of serious offences,
possible there is more to this sad story than has so far been told.

Liam, your post just shows the complete lack of understanding you and probably the entire HKAOA GC have of the CLC. Doesn't surprise me either as the HKAOA has become exactly what they have always fought against within CX.:ugh:

A real shame...a travesty.....this individual was one of the nicest, most caring, and helpful gentlemen employed by Cathay. I too have watched him go the extra mile on numerous occasions successfully solving any number of technical or operational problems; while at the same time offer a caring hand to any staff or family member in need. And even though it aged him beyond his years....he personified the Vancouver operation.....

Some explanation should be forthcoming to account for such a miscarriage.

Given this happened in Canada, and IF said individual has not been previously subject to any discipline CX will get done for millions by a Canadian Judge.
No place for CXs antics in proper civilized countries.
Should be an excellent pension for the gentleman.
