FlyDubai has partnered with CAE for a B737 NG type Qualification program

Candidates need to have a CPL with IR and 250 hours minimum . Frozen ATPL ( i.e passed ATPL theory exams ) is also a requirement

For more info please have a look here

So you basically have to pay for a 737 type rating with CAE and then you might get an interview?? I have 1400TT 1200 NG I want to join fly dubai but I am still short on hours, I don't think this scheme is any use to me if I understand it correctly.

You seem to meet the minimums for Fly Dubai, unless what you're lacking is the hours for the ATPL which is one of their requirements. With 1400 hours TT, you're not that far off the mark.

Paying for a type rating is one thing. However, paying over and beyond the type rating course to sit in the right seat of the jet is another thing. According to the CAE program, an interview with Fly Dubai may be granted. However, they still need to meet the requirements set forth by the carrier.

Southwest Airlines, a US carrier, also requires new entrants to have a B-737 Type Rating before reporting for work. Like Ryanair, or EZjet, one goes through an assessment process. If they pass, then the applicants are sent off to a TRTO to get their 737 or Airbus ratings before they start their line training.

At least, Fly Dubai, is not a Lion Air Bottom Feeding operation.

Hi, Guys.

"FlyDubai CAE Program"
It looks fine,
But the some of things are unsolved to me;

The Selection Process As per : https://pilot.cae.com/Programs/FlyDubai.aspx is:-
"After obtaining a Boeing 737-800 type rating at the Dubai based facility, candidates recommended by Emirates-CAE Flight Training (ECFT) may be invited by flydubai to conduct a series of tests, which include aptitude, group exercise, aviation knowledge and a technical & competency interview."

As it saying "candidates will be Recommended to 'FlyDubai Air' by them."
upon talking with them, have been told :
"It depends on your highest standard of performance in the program. And During the check,an authorized fly-dubai examiner will assess and observe you whether you will be eligible for a flydubai assesment"

Can anyone Please assist ;
--> What is THE TYPICAL PERFORMANCE ONE CAN GIVE TO GET RECOMMENDED/SELECTED FOR THE FLYDUBAI IN RATING PHASE ??
-->Are there any Reference Criteria for that ?

thanks

Any one got any response for the fly dubai cae program.

I think they would contact suitable candidates and ask them to complete their type rating from their designated CAE TRTO's. Thereafter recommended pilots will be put thru assessment by fly dubai. Thats what i am thinking.

Please correct me if i am wrong.

Anyone heard whats the latest with Fly dubai CAE program.
After applying i got the following message on the cae pilot website :

Thank you for applying to Fly Dubai's B737NG Type Qualification Program. Your application will start your screening process and only suitable candidates meeting Fly Dubai's requirements will be contacted by CAE.

Nothing after that.

Thanks

I just met someone who went through the CAE program to got hired with FD. He had UK CPL with a frozen ATPL, and had recently completed a MCC course in Amsterdam.

The candidates can either pick the EASA Type Rating Course (which he did) or the FAA Type Rating course.

CAE does all the training and Fly Dubai sends one of their examiners to observe the final check-ride which leads to the type rating. It is very high pressure because not only are you taking the check for the type rating but it's also a job interview to some extent. You must be able to fly to ATP standards for EASA or FAA as the case may be. Not being able to do so and failing the check-ride means you will not be considered for FD.

If you do well, they call you for an office interview and then hopefully a job offer. It's an expensive course (probably $20,000 or more) and a gamble in terms of job prospects. This guy got hired and was glad that he did the course. Everyone has to make their own decision.

So from the above post i assume if you want to get recruited as second officer in fly dubai thru CAE program, then you start your type rating from the Emirates Aviation college -CAE dubai. And then during your final checks a fly dubai official MIGHT be invited to assess your performance based on which you might be called for further assessment.

Can someone clarify , do we start our training directly with them or should we wait for a mail from CAE that the you been invited for the fly dubai program. Cause as per the website which mentions the details of the program , it said that

" Please complete the online registration form. After registration, you will be contacted by CAE."

Has anyone as of now got any mail regarding the same.

just wondering what path did pilot mentioned in the above post, followed to get recruited as second officer at fly dubai.

Thanks

Just curious, if one were to do the type rating through CAE and get inducted by FZ as a second if fixer, what's next? What exactly do you do as second officer? How long does it take before they promote one to first officer?

Most if not all Second Officer jobs on Narrowbody aircraft use the Second Officer as a regular First Officer. Just another way to reduce costs and keep the young and motivated F/Os on the right seat a little longer... The Volotea Second Officer job (interestingly also via CAE) is a similar deal.

So you're saying the responsibilities and duties would be exactly the same. Only the pay would be lower or the bond would be longer. Is that it?

Anyone know what the package is as the second officer and the requirements before you become FO?

Exams are a part of this profession, get used to it!

I would stay away from this program because it doesn't have any guarentess'

But with how desperate FZ is , I would imagine that more and more people are being accepted

Is this course still available ?
Yes. A ten second google search bought up the required information.

Can anybody do anything for themselves these days?

There was rumor that the course has been discontinued, so wanted to reconfirm with any pilots who have been recruited by fly Dubai .

Instead of going on internet forums maybe you should contact CAE directly? Just a tip, very few people get a job at Flydubai who do the type at CAE in Dubai.
