I've just spent an entertaining fifteen minutes running a soft brush up and down between the keys on this 'board, then turning it upside down over my desk and giving it a few hard whacks on the back.

No keys fell off, but the amount of stuff that fell out from between the keys would keep a forensic pathologist amused for days.

Try it yourself.......

Wrap the plug in a small plastic bag, put the keyboard, upside down, on the top shelf of the dishwasher and do a basic wash. Works a treat.

You can put a keyboard in the dishwasher? No, surely not.

Of course you can, as long as it will physically fit. Will it work after the treatment? Maybe not, but it will be incredibly clean.

The keyboard is where I store all that emergency snacking foodstuffs - little bits of pizza, the cookie crumbs, sort of unidetifiable green and brown bits etc etc.

I got the idea from a Dilbert cartoon

Must try that, my laptop keyboard has weeds growing out of it... :}

Hey, keyboards are out, take a touchscreen ;-)

With a keyboard, all those bits of skin, crumbs, dust, fluff and hair fall down between the keys where you can't see 'em. With a touchscreen they all get smeared across the screen, remaining highly visible....

There has to be a better way to input facts.

I allergic to wheat/gluten etc., and eat granola bars every day with me tea. Bits fly everywhere - darned expensive oats and honey, so lick the keyboard after every meal. No, not really. I lay a hanky over it . . . when I remember.

I had my Shop Vac in the den and was tempted to put on the soft brush and do the keyboard. Great, no bits in the gaps. (I have a full sized flat one.) For some reason, I just gave it one more suck. No, not that kind of one. I don't know, you lot.

One of me most used letters was gorn. :ugh: Worst still, I'd used an expensive paper bag in the vac and it was only partly full. I robbed the Insert button, and for months of light use, kept wondering if it was worth tearing the bag open.

I did, and after a dusty 20 minuets, here it is PPPPPPPppppppPPPPPPppppp Yaaay. :p

I put my keyboard in the dishy, but unfortunately at the 70C setting - when I took it out it was squeaky clean, but the keys were blank.....

A clean keyboard is the sign of a blank mind. No one will take you seriously if your keyboard looks unused.

In my work, the company has a small air compressor which provides a good amount of air pressure. Around Christmass and Easter I bring my own netbook for a treatment - using the airflow to blow things away from the computer. I do a similar thing for my office lap top as well. The first time I did it a small cloud appeared from both commputers.

alisoncc, a clean keyboard is so much better.

my spouse had to use my laptop once and came back furious - there were 'no letters on it'!
Appears the most used ones had really kind of 'faded'. I hadn't even noticed. :uhoh:
