...any news about them?
Heard they struggle with the investors, downsizing fleet, releasing crew, terminating office staff...
What is going on there?

Cecco
20th Jan 2014, 12:24
Last April, they added two C510 to their fleet and as a whole, the company looked pretty strong. Dunno what happened since then.

What I can tell you is that I see their aircraft and their crews around airports in Europe. I do not think they have problems. I spoke with a Captain last summer and he was happy about the Company. But maybe someone from inside might help us.

@papazulu - Nobody said that they are all bad sticks, my friend.. But lets not get unrealistic about the offer on the table - it is pathetic at best - and it will not attract any experienced and well qualified Commanders. This is a stepping stone job, that anybody would want to move away from, onto the bigger and better (much better) paid jobs. Just the way it is.

remember that you will take a big risk investing in a TR for an aircraft type that hardly anybody flies, the ones that are there make minimal hours so no good for hourbuilding and with a company that is (or at least was) financially shacky..... :suspect:

PF 30 MIN / PNF 30 MIN

They give you a basic takeoff profile, after that changes of hdg, level and speed. maybe a small failure, nothing critical. make the checklists and try to make good crm. vectors for aproach ils on all engines until minima.

not looking for skill on flying of course, but good crm and attitude.

Does anybody know if it concerns a commuting contract? Because they state that you should live close to some mentioned airports like amsterdam, Nice......

Astra SPx
16th Feb 2016, 07:14
It's 6 on 4 off commutable from the nominated gateway airports.

The Austrian tax is high though, Captains starting take home in the region of 2200 Euro's and per-diem's are very low, I'm guessing you would easily be putting your own money in to live down route.

Salary is dependant on previous jet command and jet total for Captains. Obviously, F/O's are pay to fly...

And i suppose you also have to rent a flat in Viena?

First Officers are paid in Globeair, just not very well. I don't believe there is a requirement to live in Vienna (The company is actually based in another part of Austria!). They pay for the tickets to/from your gateway. I don't work for the company, but I have met a few crews and they are all desperate to leave!

Is it 6-4 throughout the year. Heard some rumours that it's 7-3 in the summer with an holyday ban between May and September.

Also is there an option for an offshore contract? Would make it more interesting.

Commuting from your home with gate at nearest international airport, 6-4, flights and hotels paid while in duty, low salary, desperate for Cpt...1500 hours min. Very expensive type rating, planning until 20 Mustang in the future.

Not so expensive for the skippers, they get refunded/bonded. 1/2 of the same deal for the FO but yes, still very steep especially when compared against the salary.

Just wait. The cpt requirements went from 4000/type rated to 1500/NTR. Now just wait for the salary to go up to a comfortable €70000 and we are where we should be.

Blink is already paying £54000, which is about € 68000 with the current exchange rate

But you are still left out in the dark with an £18K SSTR regardless of the seat you are applying for, aren't you? When I enquired their "promise" was to make it very "tax-efficient" (so down to 14K, perhaps?) but that was it. GA offers you the chance to bank your whole year-salary, albeit less. Horses for courses.

Then again the 18K is about the difference in the annual salary so after year one you make 18K more in blink.

Either that or you sign with globeair and you leave for blink afterwards. Guess that's also why Globeair is looking for pilots and Blink isn't.

This question cannot be answered as such. Captain salary is based on the total hours on Jet in AOC environment. So the spread in GROSS is from 57500 to 89000 for Line Trainer, Regular Commander remove 6000.. So using the tool you get a MAX of around 55000 NET so 4600 net per month Highest PAY at GAC for the time being.

I am not aware of a company giving pay rise in net..

A while ago I went to the interview for the non-type rated first officer position and the day after I received the following offer:
- salary €1850 per month, 14 months salary - increasing by €200 every 700 hours on jet aircraft up to a maximum of €2350 per month.
- €30 per diem
- 6 days on, 4 days off
- I had to pay €24000 for the type rating
- there was also a 3 year bond for €11000
- They were charging me €600 for the uniform
- The employment starts after line training

They were genuinely shocked when I told them I'd rather be a flight instructor than accept those terms and conditions.
Also if you do the math you'll be better off as a flight instructor than accept those terms.

I suppose it takes some very, very naive people to accept both a self sponsored typerating AND a bond... They are investing €0 and you pay them if you want to leave :8

Does anybody have recent experience with the DEC assessment?

Scheduled to go to Linz end of the month for a one-day assessment, all info is appreciated.

And remember in Austria, by Law the employer can terminate the employment at will for no reason..

It is just what I wrote above : In Austria the employer can terminate your contract with 6 weeks notice ( less than 2 years of employment) for no reason given. And if you are NOT resident in Austria, you cannot look for unemployment benefits, UNLESS, you get U1 and S1 form in order, and try to claim it in your own country.

I think that people, looking for a job, and having one offered, are not thinking about leaving the company, so in essence bonding ( even though very marginally legal, if you ask me) someone coming with a type rating is not really important if you plan to stay for a long term.
Obviously, if your plan is to leave within 6 months, the question is : why are you getting there ?

After the assessment, the money invested to get to the biggest hub of Europe ( AKA Linz), and a positive offer after may be months of searches and trials. What would you do if you discover at that time that finally you are bonded ? Take or Drop ?

So there is some takers...

As far as the assessment is concerned, if you had made a previous one with another company, this one is in pair, may be more psychology than technical nowadays.

But seriously, who takes these crappy jobs?

People who need to fly for a reason or another, not everyone has the chance to be at Netjets or TAG...

There's still a ton of other jobs out there. I'd rather NOT fly temporarily or permanently instead of accepting these insulting T&Cs.

Well there is a market and there is marketers. Sometimes you think you have a choice, but it is easy to say until you REALLY need a job.
The reality is very different, try to have a job after a break of 4 to 5 years, even with 8000 hours in biz jets with not the proper rating you can wait for a while. Now with a valid Glex or F7X or G550 rating the future is brighter..

Do not judge people too fast or too soon, there is a shoe for every foot, just find a nice and confortable one, after that, not everyone partner is a top model nevertheless you can live happily ever after ...

I'd like to share my experience about GlobeAir screening. The day starts with a company presentation after that we had a multiplechoice test on papers about ATPL questions like "RVR requirements, Planning requirements, Questions about mustang and globeair company. Not easy at all. After that they start a face to face interview with Human resource chief and with Chief pilot. Again questions about yourself and theoretical questions. Some qustions are about jeppesen charts. After lunch, for those who pass the interview, you have to go to Linz Airport for simulator screenings (airplane is a light jet like the mustang). Two candidates per flight 30 min PF and 30 min PM.
After 4 days they will give the fail or pass. Rate pass during my experience is 9 candidates 4 pass. Hope it helps for the future guys!

They must be really desperate to start inviting people with less than 500 hours as stated on their website.

Well, the market in Europe has dried up and all suitable candidates won't touch companies like this one anymore.

when I was there , 200 hours was the minimum, we even took people with 176...The thing is that anything but GlobeAir is better.. You will suffer and you will be treated like S..People are literally escaping from the scam by high numbers..

“Just talked to a Globe guy in LCY - he said he liked the job there...” U’re obviously referring to the ramp guy that actually makes some mony off these leaches, and not the pilots.

How are the Terms and Conditions at Globeair these days?
Reviewing this thread from a couple of years ago, has the moral improved?
I saw they are recruiting... (but I believe you need to get yourself a rating ....)
