Employees of AAL (including US Airways) have voted by a fairly narrow margin for the new tail design; the vote was 52:48.

The alternative was the new fuselage design with the old "eagle" tail - a rather retrograde step. The new livery has its detractors (including 48% of AAL employees!), but it is a bold step forward and it certainly stands out. I'm relieved that the design will be retained.

The airline's mgmt has said that the repainting of the remaining fleet, including the US Airways fleet, into AA colours, will proceed as a priority. Can't wait to see the A330 - probably the only new type to be seen in the new colours (unless you include the A320).

US Airways had A350 XWBs on order. Now that one I'm looking forward to in AA's new colours!
