I suggest that you volunteer to help those less fortunate than yourself by helping out in a Salvation Army kitchen, or visit an old people's home and offer to chat to them about old times. It may be a horrible time of year for you but it is even worse for those less fortunate, so help them and you will find it very rewarding and not horrible at all. Good luck!

English Harbour, Antigua.

There's nothing remotely Xmassy about palm trees, and you can get so drunk at the Xmas day dockside lunchtime champagne do (all profits to charity) that you won't sober up till 12th night.

Officially Fox3 Approved :ok: hic!

I fear nowhere. I suspect like Mr Scrooge, it's your own spirit that makes Christmas horrible - sorry, so get a grip and cheer up fella. Embrace your fellow man.

To quote the ghost of Christmas past "come in and know me better man":ok:

The wilds of inland Australia, like I often do, few people, no traffic, no TV,
no mobile, only a public phone which doesn't ring often unless we have a
cyclone (the police called to check on us before it hit ;)).

You feel so refreshed it is not funny.

Presumably the OP refers to the horrid commercialism of the time of year.
Here then is a peaceful suggestion where soul solace maybe obtained in truly beautiful countryside.
Retreats - Franciscan Friars of the Atonement (http://www.atonementfriars.org/our_missions_and_ministries/retreats.html)
There are other such pockets of spiritual sanctuary doted around the world where one may retreat for a few days while the hyenas gorge themselves on the fat of the lamb.
