Dear all

I am looking for anyone who is still updating their Collins Proline 4 FMS NAV database using 3.5 inch floppy disks :ouch:

Over just the last 3 months I have found it impossible to transfer the data from a laptop to the little diskettes using the Collins .EXE file which I download from their site.

I have changed computers, used XP, Win 7 and iOS, 3 different disk drives and brand new disks.

Is anyone still doing this successfully and if so could you let me know what system you are using and what hardware so that I can try and replicate it?

thanks for your help. :)

For 13.000 USD you can buy a USB loader from Collins. We did. Best 13.000 we have ever used on our falcon. No more broken floppys. No more reloads.
Both FMS load together, and all in under 15 minutes

Son of a bitch....Does this work for EASy2? Please say yes! I would pay it out of my own pocket rather than endure the hit and miss nightmare of plugging in 100 cables, hearing1000 chimes, and seeing 2000 CAS messages only to find, after one hour, that it didn't load successfully!

Deeper dog,

The loader I'm talking about is a Rockewell Collins DBU-5000/DBU-5010.

For the easy cockpit there is a DL950 from Honeywell, but like everything on the Easy cockpit I guess this is a more expensive loader, so be carefull before offering your boss to pay it out of your own pocket ;-)

There is a newer model, DL-1000, that will replace the 900/950 model for Primus Elite data bases with added features:

Secure Digital or USB interface supported

Less than 30 minute load time for all databases

Growth to support up to 8 displays and 8Gb of data

Check with your maintenance provider or directly with Honeywell or for prices.
