Hello,
Please could you tell me what food I can take in the hold from uk to switzerland?
Is raw meat in a cool bag out of the question?
How about cooked meat?

PS The local fondue is very tasty, I'm told....
Locals are limited to 1kg of meat per person per day. Import duty and VAT (8.5%) on any excess. As a non resident I'm guessing that a reasonable amount would not be questioned but note:
Travelling provisions
Foodstuffs ready to eat and non-alcoholic beverages for the day of travelling
Meat is expensive here, but is of very good quality. If you will be staying somewhere close to the border, do what the locals do, shop in the neighbouring country.
Some British products available here mainly in the Coop (2nd largest chain).

Manor have started stocking some Waitrose stuff (Riviera stores, Geneva through to Vevey) now, but not had a look to see whats there yet.
British butcher as well now in Vevey area (St-Legier) - makes his own sausages, pies, biltong etc, and also stocks a nice but limited variety of other UK foodstuff, (Yorkshire tea, custard creams etc) courtesy of Jim's.

Its switzerland for gods sake, not the sahara desert.
Just buy the food locally. The swiss do sell both raw and cooked meat you know.
There is a 'Jim's' in Gland now, they have some 'British' sausages (locally made) and meat pies too.

The steak tartare can be especially good …. Just don't ask for it bien cuit!

Intermarche in Gaillard have a freezer full of bacon and pukka pies!
Unless you have special dietary requirements or are on a very limited budget, I'd suggest embracing the local cuisine/ingredients - ideally by shopping at one of the markets (if you're near to Geneva, go to the one at Ferney-Voltaire on Saturday mornings, and have a few oysters and a glass of wine while you're there).
As has been said, meat is expensive, but it is good quality. If it's prohibitive, enjoy the local cheese and veg, fabulous bread etc. And wine!! (although, IMHO, some Swiss wine is awful - try before you buy!)

… or the one in Divonne on Sunday mornings. (Note Gaillard is in France, close to Annemasse, Ferney-Voltaire and Divonne are also in France, but on the Jura side.
But to answer your question …
You can put anything you want in your luggage that isn't prohibited. See this (http://www.tsa.gov/traveler-information/prohibited-items) for the TSA restrictions, which probably is the most extensive.
I recommend against Yoghurt (http://www.pprune.org/passengers-slf-self-loading-freight/527615-why-did-my-yoghurt-burst.html) or anything similarly packaged.
