Thought I knew a thing or two about aluminum/aluminium. Hadn't realized the naming changed in such recent history.

BBC News - Aluminium: The metal that just keeps on giving (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-25020651)

Aluminum or Aluminium? (http://chemistry.about.com/b/2013/05/10/aluminum-or-aluminium.htm)

And that takes us on to Sir Humphrey Davy. More there than I'd realized. Well, that's another hour gone.

Your trivia tidbit of the day. The largest aluminerie is North America is just across the bay.

Interesting article.

More trivia: My uncle went into Weipa (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weipa,_Queensland) with the first CRA exploration party in 1955 and stayed there until his death 20 years later.
Coincidentally, his father (my grandfather), my father and another uncle had taken the first trucks there in 1931. All were miners and prospectors, but didn't recognise either the bauxite or its value. Had they done so, I may have been Qld's answer to Gina Rinehart.
