FlightAware shows a Lear 35 departing KFLL at around the time of the crash as reported in the above linked article. The depicted flight track for this flight appears to make a left turn back towards the airport just off shore and ends shortly thereafter. The track, altitude and speed shown in the track log indicate that the aircraft never climbed higher than about 2,000' and 180 kts GS before turning left, descending and slowing. After completing about 270 degrees of course change, the last radar hit appears to have taken place between 400' and 100' at a GS of about 150kts. Total flight time about 3 or 4 minutes.

It should be remembered that while FlightAware radar data is based upon the same composite radar feed as ATC gets, the processing of the data depicted on FlightAware is not "official FAA" information and may be subject to inaccuracies that FAA ATC display processors are not. Investigators will of course use "official" radar data. It sure looks as though things happened very quickly. Hopefully all persons will be recovered and good CVR data will be retrievable.
