Sound Files

Recently had to do a format and rebuild using W7, Office 2007. Have Real Player and MS Media player but cannot open .mp4 or .wvm now, I must have missed a tick in a box? Any help or suggestions gratefully received. All other sound functions are normal.

Tried a right click on the file, "open with...", select appropriate program, tick the box "always use this program..."?

wmv (not wvm) should open natively in Windows Media Player.
Anything named wvm is an error and should be checked

the MP4 files come in many variants
Install the K-lite codec pack Download K-Lite Codec Pack 10.10 (Full) - FileHippo.com (http://www.filehippo.com/download_klite_codec_pack/)
if it still then won't play, install Quicktime from Apple
