Noticed they didnt let Seb risk his life up that high.
It would be interesting to see photos of the F1 Heli lift.

VIDEO: Red Bull in sensational Dubai helipad donut demo | F1 News | Oct 2013 | Crash.Net (http://www.crash.net/f1/news/197674/1/red_bull_in_sensational_dubai_helipad_donut_demo__video.html )

To celebrate winning the F1 Drivers' and Constructors' Championships for the fourth consecutive year, Red Bull (http://www.crash.net/f1/team/5/red_bull.html) Racing ran one of its F1 cars at one of the most recognised locations on earth...

Perched 210 metres above the sea, on a helipad 24 metres wide, Red Bull's 750bhp F1 car became the first to run on the Burj Al Arab helipad. Usually reserved for on-track use, the car was involved in a spectacular show of burning rubber and tyre smoke, against a stunning backdrop of the Arabian Gulf, overlooking scenic views of Dubai's impressive skyline.
Seconds after completing donuts in the car, David Coulthard (http://www.crash.net/f1/racer/221/david_coulthard.html) stepped out of the cockpit and said: “That was a lot of fun. When Red Bull (http://www.crash.net/f1/team/5/red_bull.html) first suggested the idea to me I said 'why not?'. I like getting involved with anything that pushes the boundaries and it's what Red Bull (http://www.crash.net/f1/team/5/red_bull.html) stands for.

“I think this will produce fantastic, iconic shots in an amazing town and I'm really privileged to be part of it.”

Seems a bit pointless wearing all that safety gear though.

@spinwing

I live in Dubai (12 years) and I have seen very few helicopters land on the pad at the Burj Al Arab.

You would think with all the hype, and the rich list whom go there, the pad would be in constant use.... But it is hardly used as far as I can see and know.:}

Mmmm ...

Agreed its not a 'busy' pad ... and its not for just anybody to use (ie not public use) ... prior permission is definitely required (as well a deep pockets for fees I understand ) BUT go see the boys at HeliDubai they seem to have the approvals required ...

I've flown on to it myself .. so i know it gets used (and yes I also fly in Dubai ..
and quite frankly .. am quite happy to avoid the place and its associated restricted area).

Cheers .... :E

As Spinwing says not a busy pad but in regular use and some days has seen 30+ movements. Quality not quantity!

The airport transfer by helicopter can be purchased as part of a package when you book a room in that hotel. I guess the helicopter noise isn't appreciated by the guests so you would imagine they operate the pad under strict circumstances.

I hear there is a nice bar up there with a view of the pad. I once tried to get in but security declined my invitation.:sad:

You can't just walk around the Burj unless you buy a visitors pass, are having a meal, attending a function or are a guest. To be honest you wouldn't want to, its just another display of brash, wasteful middle east opulence. :yuk:

As for helicopter noise I doubt you would hear very much from inside the hotel.

Now they will have to repaint the pad!!

I'm sure the hotel owners will have applied a "Minimum Spend" to cover the cost of that ;)
