FAA conversion.

Hello everybody. I'm new in this forum.
I'm a student pilot in Long Beach flying club and flight academy (California), actually I'm working on Commercial.
I know some people in Dubai that can, maybe, find for me a job there.
I would like to know if the FAA commerical licence is valid in UAE and if not, what type of licence I need to work there (JAA, EASA ecc.) and where I can do the conversion from the FAA licence.

He is sure because most of the pilots here have had their home licences converted to GCAA licences.

Most people come here with an ATPL, and some experience on the aircraft type they intend to fly, in those cases, the companies they work for know the requirements for conversion of a foreign based licence.

How about you email the GCAA directly? You will have to give them more detail than you've given us, and the answer you get will be from the horses mouth, as it were.

They are all ICAO member states....! There is conversion agreements between the members

You need a UAE employer to give you a letter of employment on order for you to convert. Without a job conversion will not be easy , you can contact Fujairah Flight Academy , they offer a conversion course. The Air Law exam is relatively simple , you might need to do a skills test depending on the type of aircraft you intend to fly .

Hi everyone, Do you have any idea how long roughly takes the conversion, from FAA CPL+IR ME to the JAA(EASA) ?
And also, if you know any places in the Middle East where this conversion can be done.
Or if not Middle East, if you have a recommandation for Europe where I could do it?

ICAO license or not, there is no agreement on converting a FAA license in to a JAA/EASA license. You don't have to take my word for it, just call the UK CAA, or any other EASA country's CAA equivalent and ask.

I have no idea about the rules in the Middle East but considering that there are a lot of FAA licensed pilots there I presume it can be done, but probably given a validation rather than a full license...?

Hi everyone. This is really an interesting subject, and i'd like to jump in the conversation by asking a few questions myself: 1- If you have an FAA license (CPL or IR), would you actually keep your license and fly with validation or would the hiring company give you a local license ? 2- In the case you fly under validation, most probably you would have to keep your FAA current, in order to do that would you have to go every time to the states to do your simulators or do they have approved FAA sims and TRI/TRE to make your recurrent and skill test there ? Just curious :) cheers
