Would anyone know what the starting salaries are for Capts and Fos at Cathay pax or cargo????

No D-E Captains (for the last 6 years) for CX-F (and have never been in modern times for CX "proper") but F/O's start at somewhat less than GBP4K/mo. (GBP quoted as there are no D-E F/O's for CXF living in HKG).

Bases are LHR, CDG, MAN and FRA but you can live almost anywhere you choose in Europe, as long as you are reconciled with the commuting. ID (subload) tickets do work but are risky. Most commuters use GO, Easy or other discount carriers and buy "full-fare" tickets. OneWorld tickets (milage-based fares) are expensive and space available.

Bases also in YVR, ORD, LAX and JFK (N America) and SYD in Australasia. Being based in N America in a city other than where CXF operates is made more difficult by us having no jumpseat/reciprocity agreements with other carriers, so getting to work is more or less a full-fare situation (a no-show is termination time). The deal with a base other than your country of citizenship is that it's YOUR responsibility to deal with immigration and tax issues, as well as OTP for sign-on. Sometimes you can get lucky and be positioned to a port other than your normal port in which case CX will normally (but not always) give you a ticket from your home to the port of departure (as long as it involves no extra cost to them). A requirement to be fully rested prior to flight means that you should be positioned to your departure port with sufficient time to get a minimum of 10 hours rest in a hotel or "other suitable" accomodation. Stepping off SouthWest and onto a CXF flight doesn't cut it.

Rosters for the month ahead are published (normally) on the 16th of the preceding month, but no bid system and significant standby (reserve) duties for all crew, regardless of seniority. Expect to perform a standby duty on at least the day prior to your scheduled flight. Roster changes are frequent and at short notice.

Captain wages on CXF aircraft are slightly less than B-Scale SF/O salaries, "B" scale captain (CX "proper") is about CXF skipper + 40%. Commands at CXF are happening at about 6 years at present, those at CX "proper" at 9-10 years.
