Norwegian Air Norway are seeking AOC in Norway for B737 operation, anyone knows when they will be hiring? :ouch:

It is this company. Just sent an application to them. Anyone know how many 800s they have coming?

No, not a clue.

But can you guess who they perhaps are doing this? Isn't their current AOC good enough? With possible industrial action this fall, and the government against them regarding use of Asian crew at inferior terms, this adds up quite well. But they aren't the first. Google West Air Sweden or do some forumsearching and you'll get an idea of what's in the oven. :yuk:

Any thoughts on how this will play out?

NAN is a legal vehicle for Norwegian Air shuttle to operate with an EU AOC it may mean the aircraft are registered in another state, but most or all of its current EU operations could move across, of course this will raise much suspicion within pilot and cabin crew circles, but the main advantage to the company will be an ability to fly between other EU countries (Norway is not an EU country) the company quotes flying from a future German base to another EU country. there are restrictions in place already that prevent it flying to Malta from all of its current bases for example

Regardless of what NAX might publicly say is the purpose of a EU AOC, you can bet your last Kroner or Euro the real reason is to move away from the 'expensive' Norwegian labour market and move off-shore to pastures cheaper. You may further expect the huge order NAX has for 737s and A320s to be transferred to the new AOC, and that present NAX staff may be 'encouraged' to re-apply for their jobs with the new airline. Of course, they will not be paid Norwegian wages at the new airline, since it is likely to be based somewhere on the Eastern borders of the EU, with T&Cs that matches the locality. Bulgarian wages, in other words, for the cockpit and cabin crew.

No, this is an entirely different company.

I think SMT Member sadly hit the nail on the head. This spells even more trouble for the business, I'm afraid. :uhoh:

Thanks.

Norwegian to open new airline (http://www.norwaypost.no/index.php/news/latest-news/29031)

"The main reason for the new airline is reportedly legal, but major parts of today's operations may still be moved over to the new company, and most of the aircraft will be registered in a EU country, not in Norway, NRK reports."

Is there somewhere I can apply to NAN? To get in early and secure a command in case they bring all the other pilots over. Do the pilots in Norway not have EU license and therefore can not fly in this new company?

The race to the bottom continues. I am really starting to wonder why any of us bother with this industry, it is becoming a joke.

Norwegian Air Norway

Strange name, made up by a committee, or somebody smoking crack in the Ivory Tower...?

Expanding and dreaming up new schemes he is, wonder what will happen when the economy in Norway takes a dump and folks quit flying?
Hopefully there is a plan B for that scenario. God knows we have felt it here in the US the last decade: BKs, furloughs, parked jets, ****ty morale and dirty planes.
Now there seems to be a light at the end of the tunnel, but some of us thinks it is a train coming the other way..

Never say never, but unlikely that Norway will see an economic crash anytime soon, it has huge oil wealth ditto sovereign fund, a population with a reason to fly (topography & weather) yes a very highly paid work force, but also very productive and it doesn't suffer from some of the other European countries problems of mass immigration, benefit culture and poor level of education, a new right of centre government will probably keep it that way.

If you can put up with the weather a beer at €10+ its a nice place to live

Nice place to live?
Yeah, I lived there 25 years, enjoyed it

Have seen the economy go up and down like every other place and waiting for
the bubble to burst..

Norwegian’s board today decided on a new company structure to ensure international growth and necessary traffic rights. Norwegian Air Shuttle ASA will still be the parent company. Two fully owned subsidiaries will be established, each with their own air operator’s certificate (AOC) – one in Norway and one in the EU. The company will offer pilots at bases outside of Scandinavia permanent employment.

Here are the main changes:

- A new operating company in Norway that will operate from today’s Scandinavian bases

- All pilots permanently employed in Scandinavia will be transferred to the Norwegian operating company. They will keep their current wages and conditions. Other Norwegian Air Shuttle ASA employees will not be affected by these changes.

- A new EU operating company will be established in order to secure necessary traffic rights to fly out of Europe

- In line with legal developments in Europe, fully owned country-specific resource companies will be established

- Hired pilots will be offered permanent employment locally in the respective resource companies. Pilots in Finland are the first to be offered permanent employment by the first quarter 2014. Pilots at bases in Spain and England will follow.

Your overall knowledge of this industry is pretty poor to say the least.
Norway is an EASA member state with EASA certifications for their pilots.
Norwegian is an airline with rules like seniority and so on and a union member present at the interview, your better apply to Ryanair....
