Weather is a bit overcast and dreary, but the first flight of the Boeing 787-9 is still scheduled to occur today.
Webcast should be starting momentarily - access via www.boeing.com (http://www.boeing.com/)

Hope the little Sister has taken care of all the teething troubles, & that this one has a smoother introduction to service.

The development portion of the -9 has certainly been smoother than the -8. Boeing also pulled items that were outsourced on the -8 back in-house for the -9.

As someone who works on the 787, I have to say, rapidly becoming my favourite aircraft. Looking forward to getting the -9 and -10 into the fleet in the coming years.

Boeing's shares hit the highest price ever on the stock market today - $117. That's about 60% higher than in mid January when 787 was grounded.

That is one beautiful airplane - the nearest to a bird so far!

Wondering on the 9, all I have heard about is orders for the 10.

I love the 1948 vintage T-33 (P-80 trainer) chase planes - and they are not for show! They are working for a living.

Is there a significant difference design wise vs. the 8, in particular regarding electrical systems ?

No, no need for "significant".

Nice landing too: float float float... :8
Oh well, nothing burned so I guess it's a great success! http://images.ibsrv.net/ibsrv/res/src:www.pprune.org/get/images/smilies/thumbs.gif

p.s. amazing again how a probably in the eyes of a Mod 'irrelevant' earlier comment about the floater was removed, but all totally irrelevant POSITIVE comments (like the one about the share price and the number of orders) stay.
I wonder if the NSA does the moderating around here. :yuk:

Just noticed that a post of mine was deleted as well, wonder if the mods are Boeing employees:rolleyes:
