I have a few questions regarding the South Africa first class pilot medical :
- is it possible to take it in Europe somewhere else than the UK, as I couldn't find a list of DAMEs ?
- is it similar to the EASA first class ?
Thanks very much.

sorry, I found the list of DAMEs so I would just like to know if the medical is similar to the EASA one, thanks :ok:

I am not familiar with the EASA medical, only with the JAR/UK Class 1, nor am I familiar with the presnent initial SA Class 1 medical requirement.
The SA Class 1 renewal would be likely to require a stress ECG and Spirometry test as well as an acoustic booth type hearing test and a very stringent eye check.
The UK/JAR renewal was always a walk compared to the SA renewal. The SA medical results get sent to Military Medical Institute (MMI) Pretoria, who have the final say on whether approval is granted. Many of the MMI doctors are less than satisfactorily qualified, or so says a specialist or two with whom I work down there. Some of them have been trained in Alabama!
That doesn't really answer your question but I hope the information is of some small use to you. Perhaps it's worse than no response at all?
