Lion Air pilots went on strike yesterday due delay salary. But may be due to working conditions (excess duty, flight hours..same story) and benefits.. not salary being late..

anyhoooo.... here is another cracking translation of mine... please use your common sense and join the dots on the translation.. unless someone can translate better....:ok:

Lion's there is a Pilot Strike because Salaries

The management of PT Lion Mentari Airlines (Lion Air) disputed the sequence delay on some routes that the airline because pilots diterbangi do demonstrations.

"There are no pilots went on strike. The news accidentally exhaled parties who are not responsible, "said Edward Sirait, General Director of Lion Air to Tribunnews.com Monday (2/9/2013).

Edward said, kisruhnya schedule of departure at the airport, Soekarno-Hatta Cengkareng on Sunday (1/9/2013) yesterday caused a domino effect from Denpasar. A number of employees of the airline's pilots and some low cost carrier entry does not work due to pain, so there is a transfer of an employee from some areas.

"The issue is purely a matter of this pilot demonstration of business competition," said Edward. However, he was reluctant to mention the intended business opponents.

According to Edward, during the week-long show up a number of issues that discredit the Airline Tycoon Rusdi Kirana. Two issues are salary payments to pilots late giving rise to turbulence, whereas other issues namely hengkangnya 35 pilots due to the problem of well-being.

"There is no question that proved the two issues. Pilots already earn salaries every 31st of every month, about the salaries of pilots in Lion there has never been a problem, "he said.

As is known, Lion Air currently has 1,200 pilots. As many as 1,000 domestic pilots, while the rest of the foreign pilots.

"Foreign and local pilot salaries are not much different. But foreign pilots can be on-site housing, because they are far from home. Thus there will be no inequality and welfare which resulted in jealousy, "he said.

As reported (Tribunnews.com Network) previously, the kisruhnya Lion Air flight schedule from the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Sunday (1/9/2013), allegedly because of all the pilots held a demonstration, because action until September 1, they have not received any salary.

Online solar had encountered one of Lion Air, pilots who were in the waiting room. However, the pilots hurriedly asks Surya Online to request information from the pilot's head.

"We are sorry, please ask to the head of our pilots," said the pilot.

The issue of the pilot demonstration has already sounded in Soekarno-Hatta Airport. Hundreds of passengers being displaced, forcing management to provide assurance of Lion Air flight schedule. But still there is no satisfactory explanation.

"We are sorry, we do indeed lack the crew," said Satria B Maeda, who claims to be the Manager of Lion Air in Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Sunday (1/9/2013) night.

Hearing that, a passenger then contacted his colleagues in Surabaya. And colleagues that there are indeed justify the demo pilot Lion Air in Surabaya and Makassar.

"I immediately contacted my friends in Surabaya. And there's actually a demo pilot, because 1 their pay this September has not been accepted, "he said.

Lion Air Faces Massive Resignations: Transport Ministry
Zoom Out Zoom In Normal
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Transportation Ministry is investigating a possible connection between the recent massive resignations of Lion Air employees and the airline’s multiple delayed flights this week.

Djoko Muratmodjo, the ministry’s director of Air Transportation, said he had received confirmed reports on the resignations of Lion Air employees, including in Bali.

“But we have yet to conclude whether this was the cause of the delays,” he told Tempo on Tuesday, September 3, 2013.

Indonesia’s largest low-cost carrier Lion Air has been in the public spotlight this week following its hours-long delayed flights at Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali, Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Jakarta, and Sepinggan Airport in Balikpapan.

Djoko said he was still awaiting explanations from the carrier’s management to shed light on the issue. He said he was unable to confirm yet whether the resigning employees were air crews or regular ones.

“I think they were ground crews, but we haven’t received the official reports yet,” he said.

Djoko has ordered Lion Air to compensate its passengers for its delays to as stipulated by the Transportation Minister’s Decree No. PM 77 Year 2011 on the Responsibilities of Air Carriers.

“If it fails to abide by this, we will force them to comply and passengers have the right to sue them,” he said.

Lion Air Airport Operation and Service director Daniel Putut dismissed the news on the collective resignations, saying the company was not facing any manpower issue. He said the delayed flights ensued from congestions at the airports, and “not employees"

So, which is which?

35 or 50 pilots resigned?
1 pilot was fired?
big group of ground handling crew on strike?
pilots exceeded their hours so can't fly?
or
was it the weather?

Some local news websites suggest the strike was due to the foreign pilots protesting to being paid in Rupiah rather than USD. This is due to the decline in the value of the rupiah (has lost about 15% in value over the last month or so),

Another reason is also because a lot of them got jobs in qatar,korean,flyscoot,jet2 and Norwegian.

Not sure what the P2f naysayers gonna say now as quite a big number of expats has got jobs after their flying with lion.

@lingdee they got jobs with scoot where they had to pay 50% of the type rating cost, which was unheard of before the p2f came around.
korean has invited them for interviews, its not the same as getting a job as if you ask around you know korean is very hard to get into.

Norwegian is the only one who has hired a few people i will give you that, but that's a select few.

most pilots in lion are quitting because of the new rule change that is being brought about. That is no upgrades for foreigners, so all the experienced FO who were told they will be captains are walking out as that's not going to happen.

What a lot of bull... Lion say... All expat captains are paid in USD...9000USD, with 10wks on 2wks off or 20 business days off per year = 28 days (include weekend)

it just expat FO are not paid in USD because they all signed LOCAL contracts. with 12 business days off a year.. ITS the only contract given.. no its or buts.. Last time Lion paid FO in USD was a few years ago.. when a majority Lion FO left for Garuda (Garuda paid in USD).

Even in SCOOOT is better than Lion.. lifestyle, flying etc.

Perhaps the resigning pilots simply took the job as a means of getting whatever number of hours they needed to apply to their employer of choice and then left.

It's hardly a career, more a means of bridging the gap between new licence and current airline hiring minimums.

Lion Air were quite happy to take advantage of low experienced pilots and can't really complain when they up and leave at the first sniff of something better. Of course if they need them to stick around then good pay and conditions, and a path to the left hand seat would certainly help turn a 1-2 year employee into a 5 year one.

So, how many left? Massive means 50 or more? Any more flights delay or cancellation? They have signed up many FOs in Malaysia.... easy to transfer over at anytime.

Of course, these FOs have zero hours beside training school.
