Hi,
I am planning a private flight to VOPB Port Blair later this year, and would appreciate a copy of the Approach Charts if anyone has a reasonably recent one.
A search on here or google has not found anything so far.

I will be launching from Phuket flying my Piper Malibu Pa46-350P Jetprop, so looks very doable from a PONR and runway perspective.

Cheers - E

its a Indian Navy base; have you got a written clearance to land. You just might be escorted by fighters..

yes thats going to be next to impossible to get a YA number for and clearance for, its hard enough in a private VT registered plane let alone a foreign one!

Fighter???? you've gotta be kidding me. The fastest piece of equipment I've ever seen there was an old Dornier with a pair of tired Garrett engines on it.:{

They've gotta watch out for bird strikes from behind!:eek:

I have flown in a number of times but I seriously doubt that you can fly in witha private aircraft. It's a pretty tricky airport with notorious weather and and it's one way in/out . There is some outfit operating float planes in the area so you may want to get a hold of them to see if they can give you some guidance, don't remember the name though .....

Been there many a time in all weather conditions both sunshine and pissing down rain. No major deal, provided one flies Ref + 5, does not float half way down the runway before touch down. There's gobs of runway to stop the jet.

I've always used flaps 40 auto-brake 1 and idle thrust reverse. Let the jet take advantage of the uphill grade for the last few hundred meters.

Motors need 3 minutes to cool down, so the full length roll takes advantage of engine cooling. Best news is the passengers don't get a concussion by locking up the brakes on landing. Brakes are cool to the touch.

The reported wind from the tower is never more than 15knots tailwind with the arrester cliff at the stop end!

Best I saw on the FMC was 42 knots tailwind at 1000'. Funny how we always got rostered for it and not others.

Loved it!
