Does anyone know what happened to Duane Egli? I heard he retired in 2009?
Was he involved with Liberia World when they op. Britannia's?

Alive, retired and living in Belgium I understand. And yes, was involved in Liberia World i using ex RAF Brits

Came to this late, as you can see. Some confusion, because it was Katale Air Transport that operated the ex-RAF Britannias mentioned. Egli was in Zaire during the 70s and early 80s and operated mainly a DC-4 and DC-6. From there he progressed to DC-8s, based in Ostend, as Liberia World Airways. It was a great operation, with well-maintained aircraft and was used by the big airlines for cargo overflow. The company was under the protection of the local Flemish authorities.

The truth of is that both Liberia World and Katale AT operated ex RAF Brits. One of them is now parked at Kemble back in military colours.
