quote,
seems Having discussed the reunion with Harold Bamberg and several others it was felt that this year, the 45th anniversary of the closure would be an appropriate year to call time on the annual reunion as time marches on, but to continue with the smaller gatherings that take place. This is unless we as a community feel otherwise.

i would love to go as my first flight in 1964 was on an Brit Eagle Brit Bounteous LHR to BCN which planted the seed in my young head to follow a career...

In 1967, I offered to save British Eagle by donating my 10p per week pocket money! I was 7 years old.

(I got a lovely letter including a postcard of a BAC 1-11 in response)

I also spent the day at Speke and had sketched G-ATFN before its fateful journey to Bavaria. By the time I got home it was TV news. I believe the final flight was from Heathrow, so assume the previous flight to LHR had been from LPL.

I guess in the end life itself makes such reunions extinct, but being nostalgic, it would have been nice to see the 50th Anniversary celebrated in a few years time. My understanding is that it was a friendly and cohesive workforce, no doubt with loyalty uncommon these days.

a 50th will spend on the ex-staff longevity....

the airline went in 1968...in 2018 mostly only the youngsters (the 20-30 some-things) working at that time will be around sadly....

my money's is on a 50th though:ok:

For very good reasons it may be the last Eagle reunion this year but at the request of folk particuarly at Blackbushe one of Eagles main bases, a get together has been asked for by those who are interested in the Eagle Operation. This might give the oppurtinuity for any interested in the Eagle Story to have the opportunity to attend. As the archivist I do get people who are not ex Eagle employees asking about the reunions.
Obviously this year is out of the question but watch the Home of Eagle website in the new year for futher information. In my opinion keeping the Eagle story alive even in a different format is worth while.

Anybody remember who the Eagle captain who was who was knocking a nail into a wall and the hammer caught his eye and he lost his medical. He was a lecturer at John Cass (London Poly, School of Navigation) in the 70s. Aviation Law was one of his subjects and he used to read it out from a book!

Having worked for Bamberg in my early years, I would never place my self in a vicinity that might occasion another meeting with him!

Nice to read these posts going back 2 years.
I found it when I was looking for a contact no for Mr Bamberg to invite him along to my mini re-union on April 29th 2015 from 1200.

All details on the web site britisheagle.net under mini reunions for those interested.
I never accepted any one saying "the last re-union" That's not the Eagle spirit !:ok:

I think you may be referring to Capt Johnny Berthelson who during the 60's was the boss man in Singapore. He had to quit flying due to an accident very similar to the one you mentioned.
