A Zeppelin airship has taken to the skies above Paris launching a new way for visitors to experience the sights of the French capital.

Pilot Catherine Board praised the new mode of sightseeing and drew attention to the safety features of the airship.

"This aircraft is probably the most safe aircraft because the gas inside is helium, and this is a completely non-flammable gas. The fuel tanks are actually inside that non-flammable gas, so helium cannot burn," said Ms Board, an Australian engaged by Airship Paris, the company operating the Zeppelins in the Paris region.

They had one here in the SF Bay Area for a while, unfortunately they started just before the downturn in the economy and struggled before giving up not too long ago.

I saw the blimp over San Francisco on two overnights. Is this the same one, only moved to Paris? Is it the same company?

They apparently charge 250€ for 30 mins, and up to 650€ for 180 mins, according to an article today in Midi Libre.

It's not the same one or the same company. It is however the same type (Zeppelin NT)

Hello,

Just to say that it will not over Paris but around, and mainly West of Paris.

Antoney S,
Our Swedish friend beat me to it.
Yes the seaplane flights originate at Marin City, just N of the GGB (Golden Gate Bridge), currently flying the Beaver.
When I first flew with them they had a Cessna (172/182?) and something older and smaller (Stinson???).
Cheers,
